Katy was raised in Middlesbrough and her Illustration career started as a young child drawing on walls around the house. Her parents swiftly dissuaded this medium and encouraged drawing with a pencil and paper instead.
The pencil was often updated to an ink nib and various paint brushes but her desire to draw and tell stories never went away. After a wonderful time at art college, a degree in Illustration and several part time jobs, Katy now works as a freelance Illustrator in London.
Katy has produced illustrations for many things including magazines, greeting cards, underground posters and even tea towels. However most of her drawings are used for children’s publishing. Her debut author/illustrated book “Bear and Duck” received a starred review from Kirkus Review and her subsequent “Too Many Carrots” and “A Loud Winter’s Nap” went on to be bestsellers in the US. She has just completed her next two picture books “The Golden Acorn”, published in July 2019 and “The Perfect Birthday Recipe” publishing January 2020.
